How data analysis helps a winery produce better and sell more
A winery generates data at every stage, but rarely sees it together
Production is recorded in one place, stock in another, sales in the ERP or in spreadsheets and customers, sometimes, in the sales team's heads. Each area knows its own part, but deciding how much to produce, which reference to push or which channel to prioritise requires seeing everything at once.
When data is separate, familiar problems appear: nobody knows exactly what is available by reference and batch, demand is hard to anticipate and slow-moving references pile up and tie up cash.
What changes when the data is brought together
By integrating production, inventory, sales and customers into a single model, questions that used to take hours can be answered:
- Stock: what is available by reference, batch and vintage, and which references are at risk of running out or piling up.
- Turnover and age: what moves and what has been sitting too long.
- Sales: how they evolve by product, channel, customer and region, and how they compare with targets.
- Profitability: which channels and references really leave the most margin.
The role of automation
A dashboard is useful, but nobody opens it every morning looking for problems. With automatic alerts, the system warns you when a critical reference falls below its minimum level, when sales drift from target or when pending orders need attention. The warning arrives by email or Teams, and a daily summary of indicators can be on your phone before the working day starts.
An example of how it is applied
Illustrative example: a winery with several sales channels (distributors, hospitality, own shop and online) finds, by cross-referencing sales and stock, that one vintage turns over quickly in one channel and hardly at all in another. With that information it can redirect stock, adjust the offer by channel and prevent it from ageing in the warehouse.
How we solve it at GY3 Solutions
We integrate the sources (ERP, spreadsheets and others) into an orderly base, build the Power BI dashboard with the indicators that matter in your winery, and automate reports and alerts. Then we stay by your side to adjust it as the business changes. You can see the approach in Data & AI and in Automation and Software.
